Objective

To design an attractive, simple mobile app that guides users through London’s iconic music spots—including album cover locations and music video sites—while offering fun facts and social integrations.

Audience

Music lovers and travelers. Busy young professional who enjoys discovering new music and prefers touring at his own pace rather than following a rigid schedule.

Design & Development Process

This project was developed over a four-week period as part of a UI design course with Design Lab, focusing on showcasing visual design skills through color, typography, and established design patterns. The process began with an intensive research phase into London’s musical landmarks. I discovered that while London is a global music capital, there were no direct digital competitors—only expensive live tours and non-mobile-friendly websites. For visual inspiration, I looked to the simple, dark-mode aesthetics of Fiverr and Spotify.

The structural development started with a comprehensive flowchart and wireframes for key user journeys, including login, home, tours, map, and specific music spot pages. I also designed a custom logo that merges a musical note with a map location pointer to represent the app’s core functionality. Using Figma, I developed a style guide for both light and dark modes and transitioned into high-fidelity wireframes. To validate the design, I created an interactive prototype and conducted usability testing focused on tasks such as signing in, starting a tour, and navigating the favorites menu. Feedback during this stage was vital; while users found the aesthetics "trendy" and comparable to Netflix or Spotify, I identified and corrected accessibility issues where title colors were too dark for easy reading.

Outcomes & Achievements

  • Successfully created a high-fidelity prototype that replicates professional design patterns and provides a seamless user experience.
  • Developed an immersive feature set allowing users to connect their Spotify libraries and tag Instagram photos directly to specific music landmarks.
  • Received positive user feedback highlighting the app's ease of navigation and modern visual appeal.
  • Gained critical experience in mobile-first design workflows, emphasizing the importance of rigorous research and structured planning for a consistent final product.
  • Established a foundation for future monetization and implementation, with the potential to develop the prototype into a live app using no-code software or a developer partner.
