Objective

‍Build a secure system for retailer staff to verify VIP voucher codes, track spending limits, and store data for reporting.

Audience

‍Retailer store staff in the UK and Ireland who need to assist customers quickly with minimal training.

Design & Development Process

‍The design phase prioritized a mobile-first resolution in Figma, ensuring the interface was functional on smartphones or in a small desktop window alongside other software. Initially, we planned to build on Microsoft PowerApps and SharePoint, but a mid-project discovery revealed that many retail stores lacked the necessary Microsoft licenses. I led the strategic pivot to Bubble.io, which required designing a new structure for user registration, login, and an approval process to comply with security requirements.

• In development, I utilized Bubble’s low-code environment to build automated workflows for 2-factor authentication, password resets, and a custom basket management system. I also added a specialized administrative page for project managers to approve or delete users without accessing the full database. Extensive usability testing was conducted, involving 15 specific tasks—such as sign-up, OTP requests, and editing the product basket—to ensure a seamless retail experience.

Outcomes & Achievements

• Successfully utilized by retail staff for over one year with positive feedback.
• Client noted the app was "better than expected" and extremely easy for staff to use daily.
• Simplified complex VIP promotions through real-time sales tracking and monthly reporting.
